Body of another ASI Mukul, missing in Kushtia Padma, recovered in Pabna

The body of ASI Mukul Hossain (40), who went missing in an attack by miscreants in the Padma river in Kumarkhali, Kushtia, was recovered from the Padma river in Sujanagar, Pabna.
The police recovered the body from the Nazirganj Ferighat area of the upazila at around seven in the morning on Wednesday (October 30).
Sujanagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Mostafa confirmed this information. With this, the bodies of the two missing ASIs were recovered.
Deceased Mukul Hossain was working as ASI at Kumarkhali police station in Kushtia. He is the son of deceased Abdul Latif of Kala Chandpur village of Meherpur Sadar Upazila.
Sujanagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Mostafa said, "In the morning, a dinghy boatman called us at Nazirganj Ferry Ghat to inform us that a body was floating in the Padma River. They tied the body to the dredger with a rope. Later, the police went to the spot and recovered the body. The body has been identified as that of ASI Mukul by matching the information and photos of police missing persons in Kushtia Mirpur.
OC Golam Mostafa also said, 'After preparing the surathal report, the process of sending the body to Pabna General Hospital morgue for autopsy is underway. There is a case in Kushtia's Mirpur police station in this incident.
It is to be noted that the police went to the padma river in the Ber Kalwa area of the upazila in the early hours of last Monday (October 28). Two local UP members Chanwar Hossain and Anwar Hossain went to the Padma river in a boat with six policemen of Kumarkhali police station.
At that time, the fishermen were catching fish by throwing nets illegally. When the police boat went towards the fishermen, the miscreants attacked them. At that time ASI Sadrul Alam and ASI Mukul Hossain of Kumarkhali police station who were in the boat jumped into the river. Since then they were missing.
Then on Tuesday (October 29) around 3 pm, the fire service diving team recovered the body of missing ASI Sadrul Alam (42) from the middle of the river in Shilaidah Ghat area of Kumarkhali upazila. Sadrul Alam is the son of Abdul Wahab of Pirpur village of Ataikula police station in Pabna.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kushtia Kumarkhali Police Station Nazrul Islam said, 'Sadrul Alam and Mukul Hossain joined Kumarkhali Police Station as ASI on February 24, 2024. SI Nazrul Islam filed a case on Tuesday (October 29) in connection with their disappearance and death. In the case, 20 to 25 unknown people have been named as defendants. No one has been arrested so far.
