2 autorickshaw passengers killed, 7 injured in Pabna bus collision

2 passengers of a battery-powered autorickshaw were killed in a bus collision in Pabna. At this time, 7 other people including auto rickshaw driver were seriously injured. They have been admitted to Pabna General Hospital and Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

The accident took place at a place called Sahapur on the Pabna-Ishwardi highway at around 11 am on Sunday (September 15).

The deceased are Shimul Hossain (32) son of deceased Abdul Jalil of Sahapur Jashodal village of Pabna Sadar upazila and Safar Ali (35) son of deceased Altaf Hossain of Islam Ganti Bhatapara village of the same upazila.

The injured are Hamidul Islam, Rezaul Karim of Ganti village, Shariful Islam of Sahapur village, Ismail Hossain, Haresh Ali, Rabiul Islam and Abdul Aziz of Islam Ganti village.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pabna Sadar Police Station Roshan Ali confirmed this information about the casualty of the accident.

He said that in the morning, a battery-powered auto-rickshaw was going from Dashuriya in Ishwardi to Tebunia in Pabna with passengers. On the way, a passenger bus named Sabbir Paribahan, which was going from Pabna towards Ishwardi at Sahapur, hit the auto-rickshaw and it got twisted.

At that time, all the passengers of the autorickshaw were seriously injured. Locals quickly rescued the injured and took them to Pabna General Hospital, two people named Shimul and Safar died. As the condition of four of the injured is critical, they have been admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and the remaining three to Pabna General Hospital.

The OC also said that after receiving the information, the police inspected the accident site. The driver fled with the bus. The autorickshaw involved in the accident has been seized in police custody. None of the victim's family filed a complaint with the police until 3:30 pm.
