Bangladesh Police Association, an organization made up of police inspectors and subordinates, dissolved the old committee and formed a new committee. Police Inspector Md. has been made the president of the new committee. Abdullahel Baki and Daud Hossain have been made general secretary.
A press release from the committee informed that a new committee of 39 members has been formed for the time being.
According to the notification, Bangladesh Police Association is one of the oldest organizations. This organization plays a very important role in the overall welfare of the policemen. Many police installations were damaged today and many policemen were injured and killed by the anger of the oppressed people across the country since the fall of the dictatorship in the student uprising. Almost all the policemen who made the police force as the adversary of the people as the subordinates of the murderous Hasina government are now covered. The lives of innocent, downtrodden ordinary policemen are at risk today. In this Kranti lagna, we the members of the Bangladesh Police Association have observed the situation deeply and were driven by conscience.
However, despite many efforts with the current executive committee members of the association, no trace of them was found. Even trying to contact them on mobile, they could not be found.
In such a situation, it is easy to assume that they have gone into hiding to avoid public outrage as allies of the fallen autocracy. Therefore, in order to convey the right message to the subordinate policemen in this difficult time of the police, a new executive committee has been formed with 39 members by abolishing the previous executive committee with the consent of all the members present.
In the newly formed executive committee, police inspector Abdullah Baki is the president and police inspector Md. Daud Hossain has been elected General Secretary. It is mentioned in the notification that all the activities of Bangladesh Police Association will be conducted under the competent leadership of the current association.
The notice further stated that the members of the association have also noticed with deep concern that an unsigned notice has been posted on various social media by the defunct committee, which has already been circulated in electronic and print media. In the notification, all policemen have been announced to go on indefinite strike across the country from August 6.
The newly formed Executive Committee feels that by calling for a strike, they are indulging in deep anti-national conspiracies. Police are public servants. Police are always on duty to protect the life and property of the country and people. We declare such irresponsible acts as completely illegal and baseless.
All the subordinate policemen are being called upon to fulfill their duties in accordance with the public desire by drawing everyone's careful attention to ensure that the joy of this new victory is not wasted.
Self-restraint is requested to all the people from all walks of life to protect the innocent, oppressed ordinary policemen. We hope that very soon, inspired by the spirit of the anti-discrimination students' popular uprising, the new police leadership will start a new journey and reflect the hopes and aspirations of the people. We further declare that we are committed to take legal action against the responsible policemen who committed mass atrocities.
