During the anti-quota movement, a section of journalists staged a protest rally demanding justice for the killing of journalists while performing their professional duties, Sagar-Runi's murder.
Journalists held a demonstration under the banner of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) in front of the National Press Club on Saturday morning. Poet, essayist, journalist and Nazrul researcher Abdul Hai Shikdar, former president of BFUJ journalist Ruhul Amin Gazi, former general secretary of Press Club Ilyas Khan, former president of Dhaka Reporters Unity Mursalin Nomani, former president of Dhaka Reporters Unity Abul Kalam Azad, journalist Abdul Haque Sabuj, General Secretary of Dhaka Reporters Unity Mohiuddin participated in it.
Participating in the protest, Ilyas Khan said, "My brother is being shot." We have all been wounded. Miscreants set fire to Metrorail. This was done to destroy the metro rail and boost the transport business. But our journalist Said Khan was shown arrested in this case. Said Khan lives in Moghbazar but he was implicated in the Mirpur-10 incident. The government mourns for bricks and mortar but has no mercy for killing people.
He also said that we are getting news that many people are fleeing the country. You will be careful that no one escapes from the country. You will guard the airport if necessary. No one will get justice if this government is not dismissed
