Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus inquired about the treatment of Nurul Haque Nur, President of the People's Rights Council and former VP of DUCSU, who is undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The Chief Advisor spoke to the doctors on the phone and asked about Nur's physical condition and assured that all necessary medical assistance would be provided. A senior official of the Chief Advisor's office confirmed this information.
Dr. Muhammad Yunus wished Nurul Haque Nur a speedy recovery and advised his family to be courageous. A high-level medical board has already been formed at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for Nur's treatment.
Last Friday night, Jatiya Party (JPA) leaders and activists clashed with the People's Rights Council in Bijoynagar in the capital. At that time, law enforcement forces used force to disperse the two sides. At least 50 people, including Nurul Haque Nur, party general secretary Rashed Khan, were injured in the lathicharge in front of the office of the People's Rights Council. Nur was first taken to Islami Bank Hospital in a seriously injured condition. Later, on the advice of doctors, he was admitted to the emergency department of DMCH Hospital around 11 pm.
BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, NCP and other political parties have condemned and protested the incident. They have commented that the incident is an attempt to politically intimidate.
