Dhaka, February 22, 2025: Power and Energy Advisor Fauzul Kabir Khan said that there will be no load shedding in the country during the coming Ramadan and summer. He said this at a seminar on renewable power generation organized at the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) building in Uttara, the capital, on Saturday.

Fauzul Kabir said, “The temperature of the AC cannot be lowered below 25 degrees Celsius on hot days. People need to get rid of the tendency to keep the temperature of the AC low.” He also said that people should give up the habit of keeping the temperature of the AC low while wearing suits. He advised everyone to be careful in using electricity.

At the time, he mentioned widespread corruption and looting in the power and energy sectors. He said that despite pressure from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the government has not increased the price of electricity in the last six months. But the government has to pay a subsidy of Tk 42,000 crore in the power and energy sectors. In the current situation, even though consumers buy electricity at Tk 8.90 per unit, the government is buying it at Tk 12.

Fauzul Kabir warned that those who want gas for new lines in the future will have to pay extra. He said, “The government cannot buy gas at Tk 70 and give it at a lower price.”

At the time, he also emphasized the need to focus on renewable energy generation.
