Former Supreme Court judge and former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Mohammad Abdur Rauf (95) has passed away while undergoing treatment (Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un). He died at 10 am on Sunday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the capital.
His personal assistant Md. Towhid told the media, 'Sir was quite ill for two months, was undergoing treatment in the hospital. He died a little while ago (10 am) in the hospital. As per the family's decision, he will be buried in his village home in Mymensingh.'
Justice Mohammad Abdur Rauf served as the Chief Election Commissioner from December 25, 1990 to April 18, 1995. He was also the chairman of the National Coordination Committee against Corruption.
