ACC to investigate allegations of 'daytime voting at night'!

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to investigate the administration and the Election Commission (EC) related to the allegations of abuse of power, daytime voting at night, fraud and financial transactions in the 2018 11th National Parliament election.

Anti-Corruption Commission Director General Akhter Hossain confirmed the matter on Wednesday.

The ACC Director General said that various allegations of irregularities have been filed in the 11th National Parliament election. In particular, allegations of ballot fraud, widespread financial transactions, misuse of power to win candidates, etc. have been made.

According to sources, the allegations mention the collusion of officials at various levels of the government at that time and officials related to the election management with Awami League leaders and activists in every metropolis, district, division, upazila, municipality, union and ward under the leadership of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and under the overall management of Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader.

The allegations include the names of officials at various levels of the government, including the then Inspector General of Police (IGP) Javed Patwary, Shahidul Haque, former Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Asaduzzaman Mia, former RAB chief Dr. Benazir Ahmed, former Defense Advisor Tarek Ahmed Siddiqui, then Public Administration Advisor HT Imam, Deputy Commissioner, District Returning Officer, Divisional Commissioner, Range DEG, Superintendent of Police, Police Station OC, District/Upazila Election Officer and Presiding Officer.

The ACC has already formed a five-member team to investigate these allegations.
