Sarjis Alam steps down as general secretary of July Shaheed Smriti Foundation!

Anti-discrimination student movement leader Sarjis Alam has stepped down as general secretary of July Shaheed Smriti Foundation. He announced this decision in a post on his verified Facebook page on Wednesday morning.
In the post, Sarjis Alam wrote, "I am no longer the general secretary of July Shaheed Smriti Foundation. Changes have been made to the constitution, structure and work process to accelerate the foundation's activities."
According to the new structure, the responsibility of managing the overall activities of the foundation is now in the hands of the "Executive Committee". The Chief Executive Officer will serve as the head of this committee. Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdha is currently serving in this position.
In addition, the "Governing Body" will be engaged in the policy-making work of the foundation. The Governing Body has a Chief Advisor and three other advisors.
The post of General Secretary has been abolished from the new structure of the foundation.
Sarjis Alam further said in his post that the foundation started its first financial assistance on October 1 and office operations started on October 15. He assumed the responsibility as General Secretary on October 21 and served until December 31.
During his tenure, 628 out of 826 martyred families and 2,000 out of nearly 11,000 injured were provided with financial assistance.
He said, "Understanding my limitations and considering the fact that I could not give the required time, I have stepped down from the responsibility. This is not a weakness, but a sign of honesty. I have always tried to be honest with my responsibility."
Sarjis Alam's decision is expected to have a significant impact on the foundation's new journey.
