Bangladesh Nationalist Party BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that in the last 15 years, the fascist government has destroyed the economy of this country. They have looted all the resources and laundered them abroad. They have laundered 16 billion dollars every year and have laundered about 280 billion dollars in 15 years.
He said these things as the chief guest in the honoring ceremony marking the golden jubilee of the Economics Department of Dinajpur Government College on Friday. Mirza Fakhrul said, ‘The current generation has not been able to exercise its voting rights in the last three terms. What kind of democracy is this, what kind of politics is this - where they have not been able to exercise their voting rights even once in five years.’
Regretfully, the BNP Secretary General said, ‘Our failure is that we have not been able to build Bangladesh as a happy, peaceful, loving, and affectionate country even in 52-53 years. We are suffering from narrow-mindedness in politics, we have gone to the lowest level of morality.’
He said, ‘We were at war in 1971. Then we were also in a democratic war. Today that democratic war has ended. But until now, we have been fighting a war of unity, we will all form the country together, build it, show it a path. Today, at this age, I feel that we have failed in this area.’
The program, chaired by Professor Zaheda Parveen, Head of the Department of Economics, Dinajpur Government College, was attended by special guests, including Professor A.N.M. Golam Rabbani, Retired Principal of Thakurgaon Government College, Professor Abdul Jabbar, Retired Principal of Dinajpur Government Women’s College, Professor Abdul Qayyum, Retired Principal of Dinajpur Government College, and Professor Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Principal of Nilphamari Government College.
It is worth noting that BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir taught in the Economics Department at Dinajpur Government College from 1972 to 1978. During this time, he also served with distinction in sports and cultural activities, along with teaching.
