Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus will meet 27 ambassadors of the European Union (EU). The meeting will be held today, Monday (December 9). Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mohammad Rafiqul Alam gave this information at the weekly briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Rafiqul Alam said that a total of 28 people, including the ambassador of the European Union, are expected to meet together. This is the first time that ambassadors of all member states of the European Union have come together to discuss with the head of government. It is expected that this meeting will further strengthen the relations between Bangladesh and the EU.
Mohammad Rafiqul Alam also said that in the upcoming joint meeting, they hope to discuss the overall review of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the European Union member states and the European Union, new and potential areas of cooperation, GSP Plus trade benefits after LDC transition, addressing the existential crisis caused by climate change, implementing the speedy repatriation of Rohingyas and above all, the commitments and actions of both sides to build a sustainable future.
He said that due to the limited Indian visa activities in Bangladesh, complications have arisen in obtaining visas for Bangladeshi students from the Bulgarian and Romanian embassies in New Delhi. In view of this, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has requested that Bangladeshi students wishing to go to Bulgaria and Romania obtain visas from the Bulgarian and Romanian embassies located in a third country.
