Bangladesh is now a member of the Global Alliance for Hunger and Poverty. This information was given in a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday (November 24).

The release mentioned that on November 18, Brazil announced the launch of the ‘Global Alliance for Hunger and Poverty’ alliance to combat global hunger and poverty at the G20 summit. Bangladesh joined this alliance as one of the inaugural members.

So far, 41 countries have joined this alliance as members, and its main goal is to lift 500 million people out of poverty, especially through economic and social protection. Developed countries, private institutions and financial institutions will provide support to poor countries in this initiative.

In addition, at the G20 Social Summit on November 15, Nobel laureate economist Dr. Muhammad Yunus presented his vision of the 'Three Zeros', which is considered an important benchmark in addressing global poverty and hunger.
