Russia is supporting Bangladesh in a larger role in BRICS

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei A. Ryabkov has pledged to take relations with Bangladesh to new heights. He thanked the Government of Bangladesh for reiterating its commitment to the BRICS process.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he assured that the Russian government will support Bangladesh in a larger role during the future expansion of the alliance.
During the meeting, both sides discussed areas of mutual interest and cooperation. They focused on strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
The discussions also discussed the holding of the next Foreign Office Consultation (FOC) in Moscow, Russia.
The Foreign Secretary highlighted the historical relations between Bangladesh and Russia. At the same time, they emphasized on the cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy and food security.
The Foreign Secretary thanked the Deputy Foreign Minister for inviting Bangladesh to the BRICS summit. He also expressed Bangladesh's deep interest in contributing to the BRICS process.
Appreciating Bangladesh's strong belief in multilateralism and multilateralism for a multifaceted and rules-based world system, Ryabkov said, the BRICS Declaration (Kazan Declaration) under the presidency of Russia will emphasize practical and result-oriented cooperation for developing countries.
He highlighted Bangladesh's role as a full member of the New Development Bank (NDB) and assured continued cooperation.
Senior officials of both sides including CDA Faisal Ahmed of Bangladesh Embassy in Moscow were present in the meeting.
Earlier in his speech at the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia last Thursday, the Foreign Secretary said that Bangladesh contributes to the development of the rules-based international trade system and to strengthen the voice of the Global South on the reform of international financial institutions, rights of migrants, climate justice, debt sustainability, fair and inclusive global order.
