The High Court has granted bail for six months to Sohail Rana, the main accused in the Rana Plaza collapse of Savar murder case in which thousands of people died. However, the state party will apply to the chamber court seeking suspension of bail. On Tuesday, the High Court bench of Justice Ataur Rahman Khan and Justice KM Hafizul Alam granted him bail. At the same time, he also issued a ruling asking why he should not be granted permanent bail.
Advocate Sajjatul Haider Chowdhury heard on behalf of Sohel Rana in the court. Deputy Attorney General Md. Masud Rana heard for the state. He said that an appeal will be made to the Appellate Division against the bail order of the High Court.
Earlier, the High Court granted bail to Rana in this case on April 6 last year. Later, the state went to the Appellate Division opposing the bail. The Appellate Division directed the trial court to dispose of the case within six months after hearing the application
