Three doctors of the neurosurgery department were assaulted on Saturday. The doctors gave an ultimatum to identify the culprits after seeing the CCTV footage of the incident. Otherwise they announced that they will go on strike after 24 hours.

In the midnight of that day, the injured in the clash between two groups from Sipahi Bagh area of Khilgaon came to Dhaka Medical for treatment. Later, another group entered the emergency department of the hospital under pressure. At that time, the authorities arrested four people and handed them over to the army.

Later, the patient's relatives vandalized the one-stop emergency center of the hospital's emergency department in connection with the death of another patient.

The doctors stopped the operation of the emergency department due to safety concerns. They went on strike before the expiry of 24 hours of the ultimatum.

Six months pregnant Selina Hossain (pseudonym) came to DM from Habiganj for treatment. He started feeling stomach pain suddenly. So the relatives quickly brought him to Dubai. But they are in dire straits due to shutdown program of doctors. They are forced to return without getting treatment even after waiting for a day.

Selina Hossain's relatives said, we brought her to Dham on Saturday night. Even though she was six months pregnant, her pain suddenly started. First we took him to the local hospital, then we brought Dhame from Habiganj. But we didn't know that there was so much trouble. I have not received treatment since last night. Today is almost the end of the day, no medical news. Meanwhile, the patient's condition is getting worse, I don't know what to do.
They also said, now there is no option but to take private medical. If treatment is not available there, I don't know what to do.

Earlier in the afternoon, 'complete shutdown' was announced in all hospitals across the country for an indefinite period until the safety of the doctors is ensured, the culprits are arrested and the army is deployed. Abdul Ahad, Resident Surgeon of Neurosurgery Department of Dhaka Medical College (DMH) Hospital announced this in a press conference in the administrative block of the hospital.

He told reporters, "You know there have been several isolated incidents in DM since Saturday." In between, three of our doctors were brought from the neurosurgery department to the director's room in the administrative block. During the discussion on the matter, outsiders came and hacked one person to death in the hospital. Then came to One Stop Emergency Center (OSEC) and ransacked. Where is our security if such incidents are happening constantly? How to provide medical care to patients. We provided medical care to those injured in the quota reform movement. How do we treat where we don't have security?

Ruma Akter's house is in Narayanganj. She came to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in the morning for her mother's treatment. They knew nothing about the shutdown program of doctors. As a result, he did not get medical care even after waiting from 7 am to 3 pm.

Talked to Ruma Akhtar in front of the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Sunday (September 1) afternoon. He said, I came to Dham in the morning for mother's treatment. But when I heard there was no doctor. I thought maybe the doctor would come. But even after 3 pm the doctor did not come.

Ruma Akhter said, the internal staff later said that the doctor will not come today. Then why they could not say this earlier. After waiting all day, my mother's condition has worsened, who will take the responsibility.
