There is no fertilizer crisis in the country, chaos planned: Agriculture Minister

Published: 04:07 19 August 2026
Agriculture Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid has claimed that there is no fertilizer crisis in the country. He said that the chaos that is being created in different parts of the country over fertilizer despite having adequate fertilizer stock is part of a planned conspiracy.
The Agriculture Minister said these things at a briefing held at the Agriculture Ministry's conference room at the Secretariat on Tuesday (August 18).
More fertilizer stock compared to last year
The Agriculture Minister said that the government currently has more fertilizer than last year. Many government warehouses in the country do not even have space to store new fertilizer.
Therefore, he claimed that the discussion that there is a fertilizer crisis in the country is not correct.
Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid said that there is no problem with fertilizer. Due to adequate stock, it will be possible to supply the necessary fertilizer to the farmers.
Allegations of problems due to new policy
The Agriculture Minister said that the government has made a new policy on fertilizer distribution and management. He claimed that a section of those who think they may be deprived due to the new policy are creating problems in various ways.
He said that these problems will be resolved gradually. He also commented that there is no reason to fear the alleged conspiracy as the government has sufficient fertilizer.
However, the briefing did not mention detailed information about any individual or group who is creating chaos with fertilizer in a planned manner.
Call to stop chaos
The Agriculture Minister called on those who are creating chaos with fertilizer to refrain from such activities.
He said that such activities are not good and the people concerned should stop them.
His statement also revealed that the government is taking necessary steps to keep the fertilizer supply and distribution situation normal.
Initiatives to increase the facilities for exporting agricultural products
Agriculture Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid also spoke about the plan to increase the export of agricultural products at the briefing.
He said that initiatives are being taken to increase the infrastructure required for storing and transporting agricultural products at the airport. There are plans to increase cold storage and cool room facilities, especially in Cargo Village.
Aim for fast and quality exports
The Agriculture Minister said that if the storage facilities at the airport are increased, it will be possible to send agricultural products abroad quickly and with proper quality.
If agricultural products are not stored at a certain temperature, there is a risk of their quality deteriorating. Therefore, emphasis is being placed on creating the necessary storage system in the export process.
The Agriculture Minister expressed hope that if this government initiative is implemented, the process of exporting agricultural products will become easier.
