Lead certification journey of Anwar Cement Sheet

Anwar Group is establishing a new paradigm of environmental sustainability by starting the 'Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design' or LEAD certification process at its cement sheet factory in Ghazaria, Munshiganj, the oldest industrial group in the country.

Recently, Anwar Group Deputy Managing Director Wise R. Hossain and 360° TSL Managing Director Anant Ahmed signed the agreement at the Anwar Group headquarters in Motijheel, Dhaka. This agreement is an important step towards achieving LEAD certification.

The main aspects of LEED certification are to use construction materials that have low carbon emissions. Sunlight, energy-saving lamps and solar power should be used to reduce electricity consumption. In order to reduce the use of ground water, rainwater should be conserved along with water-saving faucets and used water should be processed and reused. In addition, adequate open space in the establishment is encouraged.

The project will be under the Lead Operations and Maintenance Rating System for existing installations, which will set new benchmarks for green operations in the country's industrial sector.

Wise R Hussain, Deputy Managing Director of Anwar Group, said cement sheet is a sustainable product, which is energy efficient, uses recycled materials and emits less carbon. It complies with green building standards including lead. Anwar Cement Sheet aims to implement globally accepted green construction standards through LEAD certification, which will play an important role in increasing performance and reducing harmful effects on the environment.

Anant Ahmed, Managing Director, 360° TSL said, “We have successfully completed the initial assessment of the project and confirmed that it is suitable for lead certification.
