Attack on SSC exam over not showing answer sheet, 4 teenagers arrested

Police have arrested four people in connection with the incident of injuring two candidates with a razor at the SSC exam hall in Mirsarai, Chittagong, over not showing their answer sheets.

They were arrested in separate raids overnight on Sunday, confirmed Jorarganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Halim on Monday (May 18).

Police said that all the detainees had participated in the ongoing SSC exam from a school in the upazila. Their identities have not been revealed as they are under 18 years of age.

The case report said that the victims of the incident are two candidates Shakhawat Hossain Jihan and Munayem.

According to police and witnesses, the victims refused to show their answer sheets during the exam. Later, a group of 10-12 people attacked them on their way home from the center after the exam. Razors were used in the attack and they suffered serious injuries in various parts of their bodies.

The injured were rescued and taken to a local hospital, where they reportedly had to receive multiple stitches.

After the incident, the victim's father filed a case with Zorarganj Police Station. The case names some of the people and names several others.

OC Abdul Halim said, "Four people were arrested in a raid conducted overnight after the incident. They have been sent to court and efforts are underway to arrest others."

The incident has created a stir in the area and locals have expressed concern over such violent incidents during important times like exams.
