General students of Chittagong University (CHB) University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Abu Taher and Proctor Professor Dr. Ahidul demanded Alam's resignation. Apart from this, they also demanded that student politics should be banned in the campus and allotment of department-wise seats in the halls.
The coordinators of Chabir's anti-discrimination student movement made these demands from the victory march after the overthrow of Sheikh Hasina's government in a mass coup on Tuesday (August 6) at 12 noon. Several teachers can be seen attending it.
Earlier, at 11 am, the victory procession started from the zero point of the university and the students came to the premises of Shaheed Minar via Suhrawardy Mor, Faculty of Sociology, Administration Building. Later, the victory march was concluded with the speeches of the coordinators and teachers of the Chabi anti-discrimination student movement. In the procession, the students were seen chanting slogans like 'resignation, resignation', 'resignation of Vice-Chancellor-Proctor', 'hai hoi rai rai, Chhatra League gone', 'hai hoi rai rai, terrorists have gone' etc.
In this regard, Abdullah Roni, one of the coordinators of the Chabi anti-discrimination student movement, said that we have implemented one point but 9 points have not yet been implemented. We will remain on the streets until the 9 points are implemented. We want a fair environment for university studies. We have to open the halls. Although our country is independent, gate number 1 from the university is not yet independent. Chhatra League-Youth League activists are attacking ordinary students. Earlier, the BCL terrorists beheaded the quota protesting students in the university campus. Despite all the evidence, the administration did not take action. We want our safety as well as a fair learning environment. For this, the Vice-Chancellor and the Proctor must resign immediately.
Another coordinator Vijay Sita said, we got freedom after many agitations. We must retain this freedom. You know, in our country one after another authoritarian government comes to power and undermines all our basic rights. Take away our freedom of speech. We will not allow this to happen again. We want fascism free Bangladesh. And soon we will have to conduct election in our university, allocate seats in the halls. Apart from this, systematic student politics should be banned by all student organizations.
Chabir International Relations Department Professor Dr. Kamal Uddin said, the students of our university deserve one of the achievements of the revolution. Students will build the Bangladesh of the future on the basis of justice. You have shown with your fingers how to move. We stand in solidarity with all your demands and will support them. We have been intimidated in many ways. The homes of our university teachers have been attacked. Then we did not leave you. Apart from this, I am demanding the formation of an interim government soon from this victory procession. Then I want justice for the murderer Hasina
Associate Professor of Philosophy. Mozammel Haque said, I am crying after seeing yesterday. We got freedom at the cost of so much blood. These thugs brutally killed our students. Terrorists also attacked me yesterday. Luckily I survived This shameless vice-chancellor could not provide me security. This vice chancellor has harassed our students We do not want such a vice chancellor. Teachers don't want politics We want a university where extortion will not work, seats will be allotted based on merit of students, teacher recruitment should be given maximum transparency.
