Chhatra Dal leader Masud Rana Pramanik lost his post in the incident of holding an early election procession with more than 50 cars in Gurdaspur Upazila of Natore. The procession, which started from the Gurdaspur Pilot Model High School grounds on Sunday afternoon, created a lot of discussion in the area. About 50 Hiace and private cars participated in the procession, which circled various roads and ended at Chanchkoir Bazar.
It is known that he organized this procession to announce his candidacy for the post of chairman in the upcoming Upazila Parishad elections. However, holding a program with such a huge fleet of cars during a severe fuel crisis and the government's cost-effective policy has sparked a storm of criticism on social media. Local conscious circles condemned it, calling it a waste of fuel and a 'futile exhibition'.
The Natore district branch of Bangladesh Nationalist Chhatra Dal also criticized the incident. District Chhatra Dal General Secretary Maruf Islam Srijan said that such activities are not acceptable in the current situation of the country and organizational action will be taken. Later, in the wake of this incident, Masud Rana Pramanik was relieved of his party post.
On the other hand, Masud Rana Pramanik claimed that the vehicles of the procession were booked in advance and most of them were CNG and LPG powered. However, due to the controversy, the whole incident has given rise to new discussions in the political arena.
