The beautiful view of the Himalayas and Kanchenjunga, one of the highest mountain peaks in the world, is once again visible from Tentulia in Panchagarh, the northernmost district of the country. This rare natural beauty has been visible in the clear sky since the morning of Tuesday (November 4).
Locals said that such a view of Kanchenjunga was seen last month too. However, this time the view is more clear and charming. The snow-capped mountain peaks are sparkling in the sunlight, which is clearly visible even from a long distance.
The white beauty of Kanchenjunga is visible from various places in Tentulia upazila of Panchagarh—Banglabandha, Bhitargarh, Bhajanpur, Karatoya Bridge and Bypass areas.
Sohrab Ali and Mobarak Hossain, residents of Tentulia, said,
“Kanchenjunga is visible every year at this time, but this year the sky is clear and it is visible much more clearly. Even the lights and vehicles of the cities below the mountain can be seen from some places.”
Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world, is located on the border of Sikkim, India, and Nepal. Its height is about 8,586 meters (24,169 feet). It is the main attraction of the Indian cities of Darjeeling, Ghum and Kalimpong.
The best place to see Kanchenjunga from Bangladesh is Tentulia Upazila of Panchagarh. The mountain peak can be seen best from the historic Dakbungalow here and the picnic spot next to it. The flowing Mahananda River flows past the Dakbungalow—India on the other side of the river, and Bangladesh’s Tentulia on the other side.
Tentulia has now become a unique destination for tourists. Hundreds of people come to see Kanchenjunga every day. Pictures and videos of this wonderful sight are also being shared on social media, including Facebook.
Experts say that the best time to see Kanchenjunga is between October and November. At this time, the sky is clear, there is less dust in the air, so the distant snow-capped mountains can be seen with the naked eye.
Tourism officials say that traveling to Panchagarh during this time gives you the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Kanchenjunga as well as the wonderful nature of North Bengal. Locals hope that more tourists will come to Tentulia to enjoy this natural beauty.
