The second day of the five-day Jor Ijtema, held on the banks of Turag river in Tongi, Gazipur, is underway today, Saturday (November 30). Lakhs of devotees participating in the Ijtema are listening to a sermon on the six fundamental qualities of Islam, which are given special importance to improve faith, action, and morals.
After the Fajr prayers on Saturday, the day's activities began with a sermon on the six pillars of Islam by Maulana Ziaul Haque of Pakistan.
- The Kargujari's sermon began at 10 am.
- Maulana Farooq will deliver a sermon after Asr.
- Maulana Ibrahim Deula Sahib of India will deliver a sermon after Maghrib.
- On the last day of the Ijtema, on December 3, the first phase will end with a special prayer.
Ijtema's media coordinator Md. Habibullah Raihan said. About 200,000 devotees attended the Ijtema that began on Thursday. About 250,000 devotees participated in Friday prayers.
Jor Ijtema is basically a special event of Tablighi Jamaat, which is held before the World Ijtema. However, only those who have completed three chillas can participate in it. The organizer of this first phase of the Ijtema is Shurai Nejam (followers of Maulana Zobay).
The second phase of Jor Ijtema, organized by the followers of Maulana Saad, will begin on December 19 and end on December 23. This Ijtema discusses the basic teachings of Islam and the importance of Dawah. In this, the participants learn important lessons to purify their faith, actions and morals.
Jor Ijtema is a special organized initiative for Tablighi Jamaat, which is considered a symbol of the unity of the Muslim community.
