Fahim Islam arrested in Kulaura for raising 'Joy Bangla' slogan under BNP banner

Police have arrested a youth named Fahim Islam on charges of sitting under a BNP banner in Kulaura, Moulvibazar, speaking about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and raising the slogan 'Joy Bangla'. He was arrested from the Magura area of the municipality on Saturday (August 9) night.

The arrested Fahim Islam is the son of Mainul Islam of Dasura Bazar area of Beanibazar upazila in Sylhet. He currently lives with his family in a rented house in Magura area of Kulaura municipality.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kulaura police station Md. Omar Faruk said that a video recently went viral on social media. In the video, Fahim is seen sitting under a BNP banner, speaking about Sheikh Hasina and raising the slogan 'Joy Bangla', mentioning that he will come soon.

After the video came to light, police conducted a raid in the Magura area and arrested Fahim. He will be sent to jail through a court on Sunday (August 10).

The OC further said that an investigation into the incident is underway and legal action will be taken.
