After August 5, the army recovered three pistols of different models, five shotguns and a large quantity of bullets looted from various police stations in Gazipur and handed them over to the police through the Deputy Commissioner.
These weapons were handed over in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office on Monday (August 19) at noon.
Lieutenant Colonel Lutfar Rahman, CEO of 14 Field Artillery Regiment, handed over these weapons and ammunition to the police through Deputy Commissioner Abul Fate Mohammad Safiqul Islam.
At that time Additional Commissioner of Police Mohammad Iltutmish, District Superintendent of Police Kazi Shafiqul Alam along with senior officers of police, army and district administration were present there.
It was informed by the district administration that on August 5, army members of 14 Field Artillery Regiment went on a mission to recover weapons lost from various police stations. At this time raids were conducted at various places. Besides, many voluntarily handed over their arms to the army. In a series of operations, the army personnel recovered three pistols, five short guns, one Walther, six pistol magazines, four pistol boxes, one SMG magazine, 83 rounds of short gun bullets, 20 rounds of ball ammo, police riots and other equipment.
The Deputy Commissioner urged to hand over the looted weapons and said that if the lost weapons are handed over to the army now, no one will be told anything. However, action will be taken against whoever is found with the weapons when the joint operation begins.
