Around 800 policemen who have gone into hiding after the mass strike by the students are yet to join the work at various stages. Although they have been ordered to join their work in several rounds, there is no trace of these members. The police headquarters does not have any information about their whereabouts.
According to the sources of the police headquarters, some top officers of the police played a controversial role in the anti-discrimination student movement. Harassment of protestors, detention of coordinators and indiscriminate shooting of hundreds of students, these controversial officials are missing now. There are many discussions about their position within the police itself. Some say they are in the custody of a special force. Some claim that they left the country with the help of the administration. The former SB chief Md. is among these fugitive officials. Monirul Islam and former head of intelligence wing of DMP Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid and many others.
