The death toll rose to 27 in 11 districts of the eastern part of the country due to floods. 56 lakh 19 thousand 375 people have been affected by the unprecedented floods that have been going on for a week.
Farooq-e-Azam, adviser to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, gave this information in a press conference on Tuesday (August 27) at the secretariat regarding the ongoing flood situation.
Farooq-e-Azam said that till now there are 11 flood affected districts. The total number of affected people in 11 districts is 56 lakh 19 thousand 375 people. There are 12 lakh 7 thousand 429 water-locked families. 74 upazilas flooded and 541 affected unions/municipalities.
He said that so far 27 people have died in the flood. Among them, 10 died in Comilla, one in Feni, 5 in Chittagong, one in Khagrachari, 5 in Noakhali, one in Brahmanbaria, one in Laxmipur and three in Cox's Bazar.
