The pre-announced 'prayer and mass march of students' program of the anti-discrimination student movement was observed across the country today. To implement the 9-point demand of the anti-quota students around this program, a mass march of students and people was held in Tangail by blocking the Bangabandhu Bridge-Dhaka highway. On Friday, after Friday prayers, a protest march was taken out from Sabalia under the banner of anti-discrimination student movement.
The procession of students came out from Sabalia of the city and passed in front of Sheikh Hasina Medical College through the district headquarter mosque and circled the various roads of the city. At this time, after offering prayers in various mosques of the city, people of various classes and professions, parents and teachers joined the procession of students. At this time, a large number of police took a cautious position to avoid chaos. Besides, BGB, RAB and Army are seen patrolling.
A group of students marched from the press club to the Ashekpur bypass of the Bangabandhu Setu-Dhaka highway via the city's old bus stand around 3:30 p.m. and blocked the highway.
Tangail Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) in this context. Sharfuddin said that the police performed their duty very patiently. The students went back peacefully carrying out their program. Additional police are deployed at various important places in the city.
