After China, Canada and Mexico, US President-elect Donald Trump has once again threatened to impose high tariffs on Indian products. Donald Trump has been threatening to impose high tariffs on various countries since the presidential election. Earlier, he had talked about imposing high tariffs on China, Canada and Mexico, but now he has added India to the list.
Earlier, at a press conference in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, on Monday, Trump said that the issue of imposing tariffs will be reciprocal. If they impose tariffs on us, we will impose the same amount of tariffs on them. In almost all cases, they impose tariffs on us, and we do not impose tariffs on them. Trump made this threat in response to the imposition of high tariffs on certain American products imported from the United States by India.
Trump said, "The word 'reciprocal' is important because if someone puts tariffs on us - India, we don't have to talk about ourselves - if India puts a 100 percent tariff on us, are we going to put zero tariffs on them? You know, they send a bicycle and we send a bicycle. They put a 100 or 200 percent tariff on us. India puts a lot of tariffs on us. Brazil puts a lot of tariffs on us. If they want to put tariffs on us, that's fine, but we'll put the same amount of tariffs on them."
