Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall suddenly screamed and cried. Students came out of different rooms, their eyes and faces panic, what happened! A few hurriedly went down to the ground floor of the hall and found a frozen body lying on the stairs. Just then someone shouted, 'Cut!' Everyone gasped. It is understood that the shooting is going on. Sheikh Jisan Ahmed, a student of Jahangirnagar University's Department of Drama and Playwriting, is making a short film. Name Room Number 2011 The story revolves around the death of Abrar Fahad, a student of Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET). His shooting.
In 2019, Abrar was beaten to death by the leaders and activists of the then ruling party's student body, Chhatra League, on suspicion of camp. On the occasion of his death anniversary, the film is scheduled to be released in Bangladesh and the United States on October 7. Hundreds of university students acted in the film, which was started with a zero budget. The film is produced from a platform called 'Jisu Entertainment', of which Jisan is also the CEO. Earlier, this young man came into the discussion by 'remaking' some parts of famous films like Manpura, Ayanabaji, PK, Three Idiots, Joker, Ninety Six (96), Chichode, etc.
People associated with the film said that the production of Room Number 2011 is nearing completion. Editing is currently in progress. The screenplay is based on information obtained from the statements of Abrar Fahad's family members, friends and the accused. Sajjad Shubo, a student of the university's drama and dramaturgy department, played the main role. His character's name in the story is Abu. Tapuchandra Das, Ryan Mia and HM Ershad worked as assistant directors. All are students of different batches of Jahangirnagar.
From what idea did you start working on this film? When asked, Jisan said, 'I have remade special parts in many famous films. In the middle of 2023, the incident of Abrar Fahad mainly came to mind from the motivation to do basic work. Then I talked with some friends and seniors. Since I live in the hall, it was very risky. So the seniors naturally discouraged me. But I had a strong desire to do the work. August 5, the day of the student revolution came to mind at night, now I will start the work. Then I told the matter to my assistant directors, they also showed interest. I started work the next day. I contacted the family of Fahad Bhai of Abrar, went through newspapers and read the statements of the accused to build a story. Then we started working with permission from his family.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall and Sheikh Russell Hall in Jahangirnagar have been chosen for shooting. A major portion of the shooting took place in room 604 of Sheikh Russell Hall. Jisan said, 'We chose that room keeping in mind that there was a torture cell in Buet. A twist has been put in the story for the audience.'
Jisan also reminded that this film has a special importance in the present time. He said, 'In a campus like Buet, the way Abrar was killed, such an incident is not desirable in any way. At the same time, recently, two people died in Dhaka University and Jahangirnagar in the lynching. We cannot accept such incidents in three of the best universities of the country. I believe that the movie will create awareness on these issues. Let us not forget Abrar. Such brutality should never be seen in any of our campuses.
Sajjad Shubo, who played the role of Abra, said, "Since Abra's Fahad is a popular name in the country, there was a little fear of acting in his role at the beginning. I managed to get it down slowly. We have tried to give our best in the movie.
