A case has been filed against seven people including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on charges of murder. This case has been filed on the allegation of killing the grocer Abu Saeed.
On Tuesday (August 13), the businessman SM Amir Hamza Shatil, a resident of Adabar area, appealed the case in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury.
This businessman said that he filed this case as a conscious citizen seeking justice for the murder of an innocent citizen.
The other accused in the case are – former Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former IGP Abdullah Al Mamun, DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman, Additional IGP Harun-or-Rashid and Additional Joint Police Commissioner Biplab Kumar.
This is the first time that a case has been filed against Sheikh Hasina since her resignation as Prime Minister on August 5.
According to the complaint of the case, recently thousands of students marched in the government job quota reform movement. Peaceful processions were fired indiscriminately in different parts of the country. Many students were killed and injured. On July 19, students were holding a peaceful procession in the 40 feet area of Basila in Mohammadpur. Police fired indiscriminately there too. Abu Sayed, a local grocer, was shot in the head while crossing the road. He died on the spot.
It is said in the RG of the case that the deceased Sayem was buried at his village house in the new slum of Boda Upazila in Panchagarh. His mother, wife, son live there. Because of this, they are unable to come to Dhaka and file a case. That is why I have filed this case to establish the rule of law in pursuit of conscience.
In the complaint of the case, the plaintiff also said that the former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has repeatedly ordered to suppress the quota reform movement with a strong hand. On the orders of Obaidul Quader and Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, the IGP and senior officers of the police opened fire on the procession. The accused committed the murder in mutual connivance. So it needs to be judged.
The plaintiff's lawyer said that an application has been made to take the case as a statement to the police station. Mamun Mia said.
