One person was killed in a collision between two trucks in Pabna. Two more people were injured in this incident. The accident took place at Nurpur bypass area of Pabna around 2 pm on Thursday (October 31).
Deceased Sirajul Islam (30) is the son of Nazim Uddin of Tebunia Boyra Kashinathpur village of Pabna Sadar Upazila.
The injured are Titu Hossain (40) of Narayanpur Mohalla of Pabna Town Sadar and Mostakim Hossain (45) of Mahmudpur Village of Sadar Upazila. They have been admitted to Pabna Community Hospital.
Eyewitnesses said that a truck was heading towards the bus terminal from Gachpara in Pabna. On the way, there was a collision with another truck coming from the opposite direction in front of Nurpur Community Hospital. The truck heading towards the bus terminal lost control and rammed into the roadside food hotel. A person named Sirajul was killed on the spot. Later the locals rescued the injured and admitted them to the hospital.
Food Hotel owner Saddam Khan said, "I was cleaning the dishes in the tube well behind the shop after finishing cooking at the hotel. A motorcyclist was drinking tea in my shop in the pouring rain. Another was sitting. And my manager sat in the tut shop. Suddenly the manager heard a loud noise and screamed and saw a man lying under the truck. Two others were seriously injured.
Zakir Hossain, Senior Station Master of Pabna Fire Service, said, "After hearing the news from the locals, the fire service members did rescue work at the spot and the injured were rescued and sent to the hospital."
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pabna Sadar Police Station Golam Mostafa said, "On receiving the news, the police went to the spot and reported the situation." The truck driver is absconding. The truck involved in the accident has been impounded. The injured are under treatment at the hospital. The deceased's body was taken away by the relatives. No one has complained about this.
