According to Rajarhat Meteorological Office of Kurigram on Saturday (October 5), 157 mm of rain has been recorded in Kurigram in the last 24 hours. Which may continue for the next few days.
As the rain continues, waterlogging has occurred in various roads and office premises of Kurigram city. People are moving through all these roads ignoring the knee-deep water. Also many shops in the city are closed. People don't go out of their homes unless absolutely necessary. In such a situation, the people of the working class and day laborers are in trouble.
On the other hand, as the rain continues, the water level of the river is increasing in the plain. Aminul Islam, a rickshaw driver in Kurigram town, said that it has been raining heavily since Friday afternoon. Can't leave the house. There are no passengers on the road, the rickshaw cannot be driven in the rain. I have been sitting on the road since morning and I have not seen any people.
Subal Chandra Sarkar, officer-in-charge of the Rajarhat Meteorological Office of Kurigram, said that 157 millimeters of rainfall has been recorded in the last 24 hours till 12 noon on Saturday. Which is likely to continue intermittently till October 9. Kurigram Water Development Board Executive Engineer Md. Rakibul Hasan said that due to continuous rainfall, the water level of all the rivers in the district is increasing.
