HB Abdus Salam Pintu College of Gopalpur Upazila returned to its name after 18 years. The educational institution was deprived of MPO because the college was named after BNP Vice Chairman and former Deputy Education Minister Abdus Salam Pintur, despite achieving good results in the examination every year. For a long time teachers, staff and poor students did not get even minimum government support.
It is known that BNP leader Advocate Abdus Salam Pintu established the college in 1999 on the banks of Bairan River in Hadira Union, 12 kilometers away from Gopalpur Upazila Sadar. He became a founding donor member with a financial contribution of around Rs.15 lakhs. Later in 2001, after Salam Pintu became Deputy Minister of Education, the college received government permission to teach. In 2003 the college got academic recognition and in 2005 it became eligible for MPO. The college got MPO listing the following year. But in late 2006, the MPO activities were suspended due to political unrest in the country. Then, in view of the changed political situation, a false case was filed against BNP leader Advocate Abdus Salam Pintu. He was interned in that fabricated case. After that, the leaders and activists of the League harassed the followers of BNP leader Abdus Salam Pintu with many absentee cases. HB Abdus Salam Pintu College came under fire from Awami League activists.
Senior teacher of the college, Sultan Mahmud, said that the leaders of the league cut down many valuable trees in the college yard in broad daylight. The college sells the vouchers stored in the warehouse. Some teachers were prevented from coming to the college. They changed the name of the college to Hadira-Vadurichar College. They took over the post of governing body by force. In the name of doing MPO, they snatched lakhs of rupees from the teachers in three stages. But MPO did not happen. Didn't return the money either. Meanwhile, as the name of the college is Hadira-Vadurichar College and H-B Abdus Salam Pintu College in the Education Board and Directorate of Education, the new MPO was not listed due to the confusion in the name.
Education philanthropist of the area Humayun Kabir Talukdar said that students from poor and backward communities study in the college established in remote areas. They get the opportunity to study without much pay. But since BNP leader Abdus Salam Pintu was the founder of the college and the college was named after him, the Ministry of Education did not make the college MPO for a century and a half due to political vendetta. He demanded the MPO of the college as soon as possible.
Azahar Ali, a member of the governing body of the college and president of Hadira Union BNP, said that the quality of education in the college has been very good since its inception. Resulting and responsive. The college has been discriminated against just because of the name. In this situation, on Monday, angry people of the area took down the signboard naming Hadira-Vadurichar College and replaced it with HB Abdus Salam Pintu College signboard in the academic building. Acting principal of the college Siddiqur Rahman confirmed the truth of the incident.
