The curtain has finally come down on the 48th edition of the Copa America. Argentina won the title after beating Colombia 1-0 on Monday (July 15). Albiceleste took the record 16th title with this. Lionel Messi's team has shown dominance throughout the tournament.
Lautaro Martinez played a big role in Argentina's title win. This forward scored 5 goals in the entire tournament. He also became the highest scorer. And so Lautaro took the Golden Boot award.
Another individual award went to the Argentines. Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has performed exceptionally well throughout the tournament. Argentina has kept 5 clean sheets in the entire tournament as a symbol of confidence in the goal post. Besides, in the quarter-final against Ecuador, Emiliano took the team to the semi by stopping two shots in the tiebreaker. So he got the Golden Gloves for the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
Despite not winning the title, Colombia's James Rodríguez played brilliantly. He scored 1 goal with 6 assists. So Rodriguez won the Golden Ball as Copa's best player award.
