Real Madrid defeated the hosts 2-1 at Valencia in a La Liga match on Friday night. Vinicius Junior saw a straight red card in that match. Real has appealed against his punishment. Carlo Ancelotti is hopeful that the Brazilian forward will avoid a ban.
In the 79th minute of that match, Vinicius hit the Valencia goalkeeper in the neck. The referee showed the Brazilian forward a straight red card. Ancelotti is hopeful that Vinicius will avoid a minimum two-match ban.
The Real coach said, "It was not a red card, it was a yellow card. And that is why we are hopeful that he will not face any ban."
Real will play fourth-tier team Deportiva Minera on Monday in the Copa del Rey match. Ancelotti said Vinicius will travel to Cartagena with the team that day.
"We are hopeful that he will not be suspended. Only two will not go for the next match; goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and defender Antonio Rudiger. Everyone else will go on the trip," Ancelotti said.
