A few days before the start of the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh, West Indies received a pair of bad news. Two pacers Matthew Ford and Shamar Joseph were ruled out of the ODI series due to injuries. And aggressive batsman Shimron Hetmyer has also been lost.

This information was given in a tweet by the handle Windies Cricket X (formerly Twitter). Hetmyer is not injured, he has been ruled out of the ODI series due to illness. Hetmyer will not be in this series against Bangladesh due to illness.

Left-handed batsman Alik Athanase, who played the Test series, has been taken as his replacement. The young batsman has played 12 ODIs so far. Athanase played an innings of 65 runs off 45 balls on his ODI debut last year. He again scored 66 off 65 balls in the fifth ODI. However, he could not do well in the next seven ODIs.

This time, Hetmyer's illness has given him a chance to return. He has played 27 international matches in the Caribbean jersey so far. Earlier, due to injuries to Ford and Shamar Joseph, Marquinho Mindley and Jeddah Blades were called up to the ODI team for the first time.

Bangladesh and West Indies will face each other in the first ODI at Warner Park in St. Kitts at 7:30 pm today. The remaining two matches will be held at the same venue on December 10 and 12.
