The 11th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is set to begin on December 30. On this occasion, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) unveiled the BPL mascot 'Dana-36' at a special event on Sunday (December 1).
The mascot unveiling event was part of the 'Youth Festival 2025' organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, Advisor to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, was present as the chief guest at the event. BCB President Faruk Ahmed, Bangladesh Football Federation President Tabith Awal, and other BCB officials were also present.
This event turned into a gathering of former and current cricketers. From the current captain of the Bangladesh national team, Nazmul Shanto, to former captains Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim, they were all seen sharing pleasant stories. Members of the women's cricket team were also present.
The mascot, 'Dana-36', has been designed as a symbol of the recent student-citizen movement and political change. This mascot has been depicted as a symbol of the spirit of independence of Bangladesh and the united efforts of sportsmen.
The pigeon mascot has been designed to connect with the spirit of independence, which is an essential part of sports and also a key theme of cricket culture. The pigeon is seen as a symbol of peace and resilience, reflecting the strength and unity of a nation.
The opening ceremony of the BPL will be held on December 23 at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur. Similar events will be held at the MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong on December 25 and at the Sylhet District Stadium on December 27.
The 11th edition of the BPL will begin on December 30 and will continue until February 7, 2025. Seven teams will participate in this tournament - Dhaka Capitals, Chittagong Kings, Durbar Rajshahi, Fortune Barisal, Khulna Tigers, Rangpur Riders, and Sylhet Strikers.
