Bangladesh took control of the match by returning six Indian batsmen before the half century. India lost two sets of batters in a span of 5 balls. The hosts are on the back foot once again in the Chennai Test.
After 43 overs India collected 149 runs losing 6 wickets. Ravichandran Ashwin is on the wicket with 1 run. Another unbeaten batsman Ravindra Jadeja collected 4 runs.
From the beginning, the two Indian openers suffered from discomfort playing Hasan Mahmud and Taskin Ahmed. Bangladesh took a review against Rohit off Hasan in the fourth over. The Indian skipper survived the leg before the journey due to the umpire's call. However, Hassan sent Rohit back to the dressing room in his next over.
After losing 3 wickets for 34 runs, India tried to turn around with the bat of Jaisawal and Pant. These two added 62 runs in the fourth wicket partnership. The pair broke when Pant departed after scoring 39 runs. Hasan returned this wicketkeeper batter too. Pant was caught behind the wicket by punching a short length ball well outside the off stump.
After Pant's departure, Jaisawal was moving towards a big pair with Lokesh Rahul. However, he could not go further by touching his personal fifty. Nahid Rana found the wicket in the 42nd over of the innings. His 148km ball hit the edge of Jaisawal's bat and fell into Sadman's hands at slip. This young opener was dismissed for 56 runs off 118 balls.
After three balls, Lokesh Rahul, another set batsman, also returned to Sajghar. Mehdi Hasan Miraj was bowling in the 43rd over of the innings. 16 runs from 52 balls came from Rahul's bat before Zakir Hasan was caught at short leg in the third ball of the over.
