Asaduzzaman Noor, the former minister of the Ministry of Culture, has been arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police. He was arrested from Navartan Colony on Bailey Road in the capital at 11 pm on Sunday.
This information has been confirmed by the media and public relations department of the police.
Asaduzzaman Noor served as Culture Minister of Bangladesh in Sheikh Hasina's third cabinet. From 2001 to 2024, he served as a Member of Parliament for Nilphamari-2 Constituency on the nomination of Awami League. In 2024, he lost his position as a Member of Parliament when the President dissolved the National Parliament after the Non-Cooperation Movement.
He received the Freedom Award in 2018 for his contribution to culture. He has been serving as the President of Bangladesh Recitation Coordinating Council for a long time.
