The court acquitted BNP Acting Chairperson Tariq Rahman from the defamation case filed in Gopalganj court. Today Monday (August 27), Gopalganj Chief Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Shahadat Hossain Bhuiyan ordered the acquittal.
It should be noted that a defamation case was filed in the Gopalganj Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court against BNP Acting Chairperson Tarek Rahman on December 21, 2014 for defaming Awami League. The plaintiff in the case was the then Gopalganj District Chhatra League President Abdul Hamid. After many years, the learned judge ordered the acquittal of Tariq Rahman from the case on Monday.
On the other hand, the same court acquitted National Volunteer Party central president SM Jilani and others in a case of assault under Section 249 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
