The interim government will remain in power as long as necessary, balancing the desire for reform with the desire for new elections. This is what the interim government's adviser on law, justice and parliament said. Asif Nazrul
He said this in response to a question from reporters at the secretariat on Saturday (August 10) morning.
Earlier in the morning, the Secretary of Law and Justice Department. Golam Sarwar and Secretary of Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Department Hafiz Ahmed Chowdhury and other officials welcomed Asif Nazrul.
How long will the interim government stay - in response to the question of the journalists, he said that there has been no talk about its tenure yet. One thing Kindly should keep in mind is that the political parties will expect elections as soon as possible, and the common people of this country will expect the government to make some necessary reforms.
He said, because we have seen in the past that various state institutions including Election Commission, Police, Judiciary, Anti-Corruption Commission and even public universities have been tried as a way to torture the people. We have received some good services from all these institutions. There are some good people in these institutions. But the whole system was set up in such a way that these institutions became a terror for dissenters, people exercising fundamental rights. People want this reform. We will stay as long as necessary, balancing the desire for reform with the desire for new elections. Not more, not less.
Dr. Asif Nazrul said, personally if I say I miss my university teaching life, I miss my open free life. My personal opinion is that as soon as possible I can finally go back to my life, which I personally enjoy much more. So this is my personal opinion. But from a place of responsibility we will try to fulfill the responsibility for which we are here and our other advisors.
He also said, you know the role of Election Commission. If overhauling is not done here, then the government that comes in the future will use these institutions in that way. Our past experience is not good news.
