The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the judiciary became slaves of ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said Legal Advisor Dr. Asif Nazrul. He made this comment at a discussion meeting on International Anti-Corruption Day at the Liberation War Memorial Auditorium of the Institution of Diploma Engineers in the capital at 10 am on Monday.
Asif Nazrul said, "A person who was once known as a robber on the Dhaka University campus became the owner of a thousand crore taka. We have seen Sheikh Hasina's peon become the owner of 400 crore taka."
Highlighting various corruption cases during the Awami League government, he said, "There was an ACC, there was a high court, was there any trial? There was no trial. Who should have been the trial, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. 3 crore taka in the bank became 6 crore taka. No one touched that money, for which the three-time former Prime Minister of this country was given 10 years in prison.
Asif Nazrul said, "Sheikh Hasina used to go around the country saying that Khaleda Zia had embezzled the orphans' money. No one could say anything in front of this thief. The ACC and the judiciary had become her slaves."
