UP Chairman of Nayarhat Union Parishad of Kurigram's Chilmari Upazila and vice-president of Nayarhat Union Awami League Asaduzzaman Asad have submitted a written complaint to the Deputy Commissioner. Alleging various irregularities and arbitrariness, 3 ward members and 2 reserved women members of the council filed a written complaint with the Deputy Commissioner and sought his removal.
The members seeking the removal of the chairman are, Ward No. 2 member Md. Rahmat Ali, Ward No. 3 member Abdus Chatter, Ward No. 4 member Md. Sanwar Hossain, Ward No. 1, 2, 3 reserved members deleted: Fatema Begum and No. 4, 5, 6 Ward Member Deleted: Fatema Begum.
In a written complaint to the Deputy Commissioner on September 4, the five members of the Parishad mentioned that UP Chairman Asaduzzaman Asad Kheruar took Rs 15,000 to 20,000 from various people in the name of providing houses for the new shelter project. But they left the area in the face of their guns as they could not provide the house. He embezzled Tk 1 lakh and 30 thousand secretly from Kheaghat of Nadi Parapara instead of through open mail. A total of 11 lakh 71 thousand 4 hundred rupees of the 1st and 2nd installments of the council's development fund has been spent on Mangra project. They also filed a written complaint stating the same status of ADP and Udren allocation, showing 100% ongoing work of TR, Kabikha-Kabita and Non-Wage projects and withdrawing and embezzling bills. Apart from this, the five members made many other complaints.
Accused chairman Asaduzzaman Asad said that he is regularly coming to the UP office. All the allegations of corruption sought to be waived are baseless.
In this regard, Kurigram Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saidul Arif said that he has received a complaint. Necessary measures will be taken after investigation.
