Today is the 176th birth anniversary of Mir Mosharraf Hossain, the leader of Bengali literature and a pioneer of 19th-century Bengali Muslim writers. He was born on November 13, 1847 in Lahinipara, Kushtia district.
He has written many books on poetry, novels, plays, essays, and autobiographies. Bishad Sindhu, written on the subject of the Battle of Karbala, is his most popular literary work.
Various events are being celebrated in Rajbari on the occasion of his birth anniversary. The legendary writer Mir Mosharraf Hossain was born on this day in 1847 in his maternal uncle's house in Lahinipara village, Kumarkhali upazila, Kushtia district. He lived in Padmadi Nawab Estate, Nawabpur Union, Baliakandi Upazila, Rajbari district. He died here on December 19, 1911. He was later buried in Padmadi. To preserve his memory, the Mir Mosharraf Hossain Memorial Center was built in Padmadi with the funding of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
When asked about this, the visitor said, Mir Mosharraf Hossain is the pride of our Baliakandi and Rajbari district. His birthday ends every year with a nominal ceremony and garlanding.
Many demanded that Mir Mosharraf Hossain's land in Rajbari be recovered, a cultural university be established in his name, and that Mir Mosharraf Hossain's works be collected, preserved and made available by the entire Bangla Academy.
