The court has banned the departure of eight ministers and six members of parliament (MP) of the previous Awami League government. The public prosecutor of the agency, Mahmud Hossain Jahangir, said that Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Assamach Jaglul Hossain gave the order on Thursday (August 29) in view of an application by the ACC.
Former Health Minister Zahid Malek, former Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, Former Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, Former Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder, Former Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, Former Industries Minister Kamal Ahmed Majumder, Former Minister Shahjahan Khan and Former Minister Kamrul Islam. Apart from this, there are six former members of parliament including Salim Uddin, Mamunur Rashid Kiran, Kujendra Lala Tripura, Kazim Uddin.
ACC Deputy Director Abu Hena Ashiqur Rahman made this request seeking a ban on former ministers-MPs leaving the country. It is said that the former ministers of the previous government and the MPs of various constituencies who are accused of various irregularities and corruption to acquire unimaginable illegal wealth may leave the country and flee abroad, according to reliable sources. They need to be banned from traveling abroad for the sake of fair investigation.
