In West Bengal, West Bengal and the whole of India woke up as the night progressed in the 'Girls' Night Occupy' program. The crowd continued to grow. The girls started occupying the streets on Wednesday (August 14) night. Jadavpur, Academy, College Street, every corner of the city, district after district. Even across state borders, Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru are waking up at night to demand justice for the victims of RG tax. Edinburgh, the capital of distant Scotland, has fallen into the night.
From Calcutta to Cooch Behar, Bangaon to Behala, everywhere the streets of the night are occupied by girls. Hundreds of women have come down the road with banner festoons. Men are also accompanying them. Someone has a torch in their hand, someone has lit a mobile torch. Everyone's demand is the same, they want justice in the RG tax case. Everyone's mouths are roaring, 'We want justice' slogan. Not only Kolkata but the whole state as a whole has the same picture. One thing can be said, spontaneous mass awakening.
A procession of women with torches is seen gathering in front of RG Kar Hospital. Some with national flags, some with black cloths on their faces appeared in the gathering to occupy the city at night.
The crowd at Jadavpur 8B bus stand started increasing before 9 pm. The academy is also crowded with women aged eight to eighty.
Women of Jhargram in the movement to occupy the night with torches. Slogans are being raised demanding justice in the case of RG tax. In Howrah, various streets are flooded with people. Their only slogan is 'Insaf Chai'.
The women of Bankura district have also joined the struggle of 'Raat Abhab' to assert their rights by keeping the slogan 'Don't be restless, just prepare, we want justice'.
From 9 pm on Wednesday night, the torchlight procession started from the foot of Panchurchak Rabindra Murthy in Medinipur city. The protest program is also in Sonagachi. Sex workers on the way with poster-banners in the program of occupying the night.
A large number of people gathered in front of Curzongate in Burdwan. A gathering was held near the statue of the queen. Bhatar, Guskara, Memari processions everywhere.
Meanwhile, the procession blocked Shyambazar. The same is the case with Sinthimore. Many women and children joined the procession. The gathering is going on regardless of political color, party affiliation. A significant crowding was observed of young girls. Everything is spontaneous.
Earlier, protests spread across India over the rape and murder of a doctor at the 138-year-old RG Kar Medical College in West Bengal, India. Citizens of the country announced to protest on the streets on the night of India's Independence Day on Wednesday in order to abolish the repressive system in protest against this murder. The protestors announced to hold this protest program called 'Girls Occupy the Night' across India. Demonstrations have already started in various provinces of India in support of this movement.
