A sophisticated F-35 fighter jet has crashed in the US state of California. The aircraft crashed near the US Navy's Lemoore Naval Air Station (NAS Lemoore). However, the pilot was able to eject successfully and safely exit. He is currently undergoing treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
On Wednesday, at around 10 am local time, an F-35C fighter jet lost control after taking off as part of a training mission. Shortly after, the aircraft crashed in an open area near the station. The pilot reacted quickly and escaped the accident.
Naval Air Station Lemoore said in a statement, "The pilot was able to eject safely and was taken to the hospital for treatment. There were no civilian injuries or casualties in this accident."
The crashed fighter jet is a ‘C’ model of the F-35 series, which is specially designed to operate from aircraft carriers. It is known for its stealth technology, high speed and advanced weapons. Each F-35 fighter jet costs between $80 and $100 million, making it one of the most expensive and advanced fighter jets in the world.
The F-35 fighter jet is currently in service with the US Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps. The most important feature of this aircraft is that it is not detected by radar and is capable of identifying and hitting targets from the ground or in the air with great precision.
The exact cause of the accident is not yet known. The US Navy said that an investigation committee has been formed and work has begun to find out the cause of the plane crash. The relevant expert team has already reached the scene and started the investigation.
The manufacturer of the aircraft, Lockheed Martin, has not yet commented on the matter. However, based on past experience, the company usually provides technical assistance and information to the relevant authorities after such accidents.
The F-35 series has suffered several crashes in the past few years, sometimes attributed to technical flaws and sometimes to human error. Lockheed Martin claims that improvements have been made to subsequent versions after each incident.
This latest crash is yet another reminder that safety and maintenance must be given top priority alongside technology. While the pilot's life may have been saved, the loss of such a sophisticated and expensive aircraft is undoubtedly a major warning sign for a military power like the United States.
