Benapole land port has exported 5 lakh 32 thousand kg of hilsa to India in 11 days under special arrangements on the occasion of autumn Durga Puja this year. The hilsa was sent until 10 pm on Saturday (October 12). Benapole Checkpost Cargo Branch Revenue Officer Masudur Rahman has confirmed this information.
Meanwhile, in view of the request of the Government of India, Hilsa is being sent under special arrangements even during the autumn Durga Puja holidays.
It is known that Bangladesh government announced to send 24 lakh 20 thousand kg of hilsa to India. Among these, 5 lakh 32 thousand kg of hilsa was exported to India in 11 days from September 26 to October 12 through Benapole alone.
Through Benapole port, 20 exporting companies send this hilsa shipment to Petrapol port in India in 168 trucks. Hilsa per kg was exported at 10 US dollars, which is about 1 thousand 180 taka. Where the total dollar comes to 53 lakh 20 thousand. Which is 62 crore 77 lakh 60 thousand taka.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, Benapole fish market sold less than one kilogram of hilsa for Tk 1,300. Hilsa is being sold at Tk 1800-2000 per kg. But the same size hilsa is being exported to India at a price of around 600-800 rupees.
Aswadul, the official of Fisheries Inspection and Quality Control Center of Benapole land port of the Department of Fisheries regarding the export of hilsa at a low price, said that the circular of hilsa export was a few years ago. However, he thinks that there can be an adjustment with the domestic market price.
