Import and export trade between the two countries will be closed through the Benapole-Petrapole port today, Wednesday, October 2, due to a public holiday in India on the occasion of the 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. However, the clearance process will continue along with the unloading of goods at the Benapole Customs House and port. Along with this, passenger traffic will also be normal.
Confirming the matter, General Secretary of Benapole C&F Agent Staff Association Sajedur Rahman said, due to the government holiday in India on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary, the import-export trade through Petrapole-Benapole port will be closed.
Karthik Chakraborty, general secretary of the Petrapol Clearing Agents Staff Welfare Association of India, said that the import-export trade between Bangladesh and India will be closed due to the public holiday on Wednesday on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary. Import-export trade will resume at normal speed from Thursday morning.
Benapole Checkpost Immigration Police Inspector (Investigation) Omar Farooq Majumder said that although the import-export trade through Benapole port is closed, passport passengers will travel normally.
Benapole Land Port Deputy Director (Traffic) Rashedul Sajib Nazir said, due to the government holiday in India on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary, import-export trade will be closed through Benapole-Petrapole port from Wednesday morning. However, work will continue at Benapole Port and Customs House. Import-export trade will resume normally from Thursday morning.
