A person named Alam Hossain (35) was killed by throat slit in Meherpur's Mujibnagar. The murder took place at his home on Saturday (August 10) in the early hours of the morning. The police recovered the body and took it to the police station for post-mortem.
The deceased Alam Hossain is the son of Akbar Ali of Taranagar village of Bagwan union of Mujibnagar upazila.
Local residents said that in the dark of night, a group of miscreants entered Alam Hossain's house, cut his throat in his room and escaped. On receiving the information, the police went and recovered the body. However, local residents believe that such killings may occur due to drug trafficking or economic transactions.
Ramzan Ali, UP member of Ward No. 4 of Bagwan Union, said that Alam Hossain used to work as a source of BGB along with drug business. Local people and we are initially thinking that Alam may be a victim of murder due to economic transactions with identified drug dealers in the area.
Mujibnagar police station officer-in-charge (OC) Saiful Islam confirmed the truth of the incident and said that the police were sent after receiving the information about the murder, the body of the deceased was recovered and sent to the Meherpur General Hospital morgue. The police are working alongside the army to arrest those involved in the murder. There are two cases against the deceased, including drugs. It is initially believed that he may have been killed in a dispute over drugs.
